Breaking Barriers: Overcome the Overeating Obstacles to Look Great and Feel Strong During the Holiday

I used to feel anxious when the festive holiday season came, feeling a mix of worries and excitement all together. The festivities that happen only once a year bring lots of joy, but they can also pose challenges for me who always seeks to maintain a healthy lifestyle and body weight.

I love good food so much and I can easily overdose. So for me, the thought of managing my eating habits during this indulgent time can easily lead to feelings of overwhelm and guilt. I remember how my fridge easily had enough leftover foods from the holiday for the next 3 or 4 days then how I could hardly fit or breathe in my current clothes size.

But I can honestly tell you that if you’re a beginner to intermittent fasting (IF) or if you’ve been struggling with intermittent fasting to reach and keep your ideal body weight while gaining better long-term health at the same time, you can totally change that.

Imagine you spend all day preparing and cooking (or helping family and friends) the Thanksgiving dinner, with many different over-talk conversations during the Thanksgiving meal, you often end up overeating, feel awfully full, stuffy, tired, and guilty for the next couple days for having such a over-sized meal.

You know you could limit yourself, but you often also talked yourself out of it (well, it’s only once a year or you really didnt want to waste some good food…) and you kept eating.

The truth is, the same battle with food can happen to all of us every day too, not just during the holiday meals anymore. And this not only affects your body weight but more importantly the unforeseen and unpredictable long-term health issues.

You might feel like you could never reach your weight goal unless you have to starve yourself, avoid eating all of your favorite foods or have to count calories for every piece of food you have. And that sounds so unbearable.

The great news is there is a very efficient way to regain your control to achieve the ideal body weight you’ve been wanting without having to suffer any of the above. You’ve got to enjoy life, right?

To me, a great life means you live with a meaningful purpose and feel happy about it, such as your devotion to family, doing awesome work at your job or business to make yourself proud and to make your family happy, feel loved, and secured, and your contribution and connection to help other people.

Since I started practicing intermittent fasting with the right strategies 10 years ago, it’s offered me the best way to not just reach my ideal body weight goal but I can also keep that weight steady while improving my long-term health that has helped me avoid many chronic diseases, some of them supposed to be genetics.

So, if I can do it, you totally can too.

Let’s talk about it a bit more:

To begin, it's essential to understand:

  1. Intermittent fasting’s great benefits so you will keep these benefits in mind to motivate you and keep you going through the fasting windows instead of giving up.
  2. The One and Only Effective Intermittent Fasting Practice = the right fasting schedules for each individual + the right fasting beverages + whole foods with lean proteins + exercises.
  3. Intermittent fasting (IF) + Whole Fresh Foods & Lean Proteins = Healthy Metabolism. IF + Mid- to High-Intensity Exercise = Strong Muscles. IF isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution and there is a reason why this trio of IF, whole foods with lean protein, and exercise are linked together. IF transcends the mere act of abstaining from foods for set periods; IF’s about creating sustainable fasting (non-eating) time that align with your lifestyle, then healthier eating habits to keep your metabolism healthy along with exercise to keep your muscles strong.
  4. Your IF goal is not instantaneous perfection; rather, it is establishing a new lifestyle with realistic expectations and with better and healthier daily patterns that nourish both your body and mind.
  5. The new intermittent fasting habits start with a small commitment to yourself, the further you extend your IF commitment the faster you reach your weight and health goals but in no way you need to be at extreme with IF. For example, not at the extreme of starving for the whole day or days. Combining IF with the daily exercises type that you enjoy doing and with nutrient-dense whole foods and lean protein choices will help you maintain the steady weight you want while improving your muscle strength.
  6. Your determination to make the changes with IF will help you gain better long-term health benefits to avoid chronic diseases and pains in the long run. You know how important it is to stay strong and flexible to do whatever daily activities you want to do, not having to depend on someone else to do it for you.

By having these clear mindsets, you can take control of IF practice and tackle to transform your health to reach your body weight and gain long-term health benefits at the same time.

Every single day of your next precious 365 days COUNTS. Not just the upcoming holiday.
